Your guide to Hollywood healthy shiny hair


We have all wondered where these Hollywood actresses and socialites get their extra-shiny hair from! It is true that some of them definitely use extensions, but for most, their natural hair seem to be extra healthy, thick and shiny!


Good hair care always starts from within, from a proper nutrition; this is why you should make sure you’re not low on Omega 3. If in doubt, fish oil supplements are the answer; the results of such a treatment can be obviously seen within 2 to 3 months of use and can last for very long periods of time.


Besides the Omega 3 factor, a proper amount of “water intake” is very important for your hair. Dehydration will cause your scalp to cut out nutrition from the follicles and this is a direct cause for fall out and breakage.

Washing your hair frequently will cause it to dry up and fall. Three times a week is usually the recommended average during moderate weather.


Using shampoos that are high on chemicals can be totally counterproductive, even though some of these products will actually claim a “hair repair” statement. In this respect, it is most recommended to use shampoos that are usually made for children, for they are the most neutral and low on harsh chemicals. Johnson & Johnson are the way to go in this respect. Same goes for conditioners.


Since the hair is constantly exposed to harsh weather, the sun, wind and other drying factors; the use of conditioner after wash is usually insufficient. This is why it is recommended to use a moisturizing mask twice a week for about 10 to 20 minutes. It is also very important not to overdo it with hair-repair or moisturizing masks especially if you tend to have a greasy scalp.


Overnight masks are also important. Overnight oil masks work slowly to restore moisture and shine to your hair. Coconut oils and Indian oils (such as the most famous Dabur Amla) are very efficient in repairing your hair overnight; however you shouldn’t overdo either and keep it at 2 to 3 times a month. If you have greasy scalp again, keep the quantity used at a minimum and apply it on the body of the hair without the scalp.


Protective serums and sprays are very important to shield your hair from natural elements throughout the day, so keep one or both handy. If these products tend to make your scalp greasier, try to use them on the body of the hair avoiding the scalp just like overnight oil masks.


Finally, it is important to keep your hair as far as possible from heat sources such as the blow dryer and iron; therefore try to find a low maintenance cut that will prevent you the dangers of excessive heat. If you must subject your hair to the heat, make sure you use heat protection products beforehand!
