The House of Japanese Innovation Opens its Doors in Lebanon

Jap, a new fine dining Japanese restaurant, opened its doors on November 25th 2015, in Old Souk Jounieh. Located in the UBay Complex, Jap offers more than just a dining experience; it treats you to a complete Japanese experience courtesy of internationally renowned Chef Masato.

Members of the media were served exquisite dishes straight from the land of the rising sun artfully prepared by Chef Masato and his team from the open kitchen of the restaurant. Guests indulged in a fusion of flavours that are made with authentic Japanese ingredients; “I always keep all the good parts of the traditional Japanese ways while staying in touch with the current trend” said Chef Masato Okamoto; “always in search for more fresh new ingredients”.

Having visited over 30 countries around the world, Chef Masato’s inspiration for Jap is a mixture of all his discoveries. He is always searching for innovative flavours and different ways to twist and alter ingredients, creating unique tastes. “All ethnic foods are evolving at the moment. Today’s sushi for instance is completely different from what it was 100 years ago. Also, sushi outside of Japan is quite different from sushi in Japan” The chef enjoys adding a touch of his journey, and understandings of the different cultures to the traditional Japanese ways of cooking.
