Infiniti QX60: The perfect 7-seater luxury SUV

The Infiniti QX60 is without a doubt one of the Japanese automaker’s most important creations so far. This outstanding three-row crossover SUV slots between the gargantuan QX80 and the all-new QX50, and is the perfect luxury family car.

As a father, I thought the QX60 has all it takes to satisfy the needs of both adults and children.

Impressive design
I have always enjoyed the look of the Infiniti JX series, a look that the QX60 brings to a whole new level by adopting an ideal format that mixes safety, space and performance.

Sharing many features with the other cars of the brand, the Infiniti QX60 looks both muscular and sophisticated on the road. Personally, I found its angular shape in the back a little less seductive than the front. However, it has a well-defined body belt that gives it an attractive silhouette. Something we rarely see in SUVs.

Breathtaking interior
Inside, the sophistication continues. As with the QX30 that I was lucky to try not too long ago, the dashboard is breathtaking. The steering wheel has just the necessary buttons while the car is equipped with a highly sophisticated and advanced computer including a GPS map and applications designed exclusively for Infiniti.

In terms of comfort, the Infiniti QX60 can easily be considered a “mobile lounge”, even in the 3rd row! The mid-fold bench that folds electrically, no matter if a baby car seat is installed or not, facilitates access to the rear seats, for people of all sizes. The panoramic sunroof is divided into two parts, a useful feature to prevent conflicts between drivers and passengers.

A surprising performance
The 3.5-liter V6 under the hood is the same as the Nissan Pathfinder, but with some extra horsepower. If you think it is not enough for a 7-seater SUV, believe me, you are in for a big surprise. Indeed, I was not at all disappointed when driving the car on the climbs and mountainous roads of Broummana.

The disadvantage of course is embodied in the fuel consumption that increases in this kind of adventure. But the continuously variable gearbox behaves pretty much like an ordinary automatic. In Economy mode, it does not sacrifice performance while in sport mode, it does not cause any annoying buzz.

In summary, I enjoyed the performance of the QX60 and I found it very cooperative when the time came to drive on the Beirut highway or to navigate the narrow roads of the city.

Attractive benefits
Of course, the QX60 is full of active and passive safety features, such as automatic braking if you get too close to another vehicle, even if you are well aware of it. I especially found the real-time measurement of tire pressure, as well as the perimeter viewing screen (4 cameras), extremely useful. I used it a lot in tight spaces.
