When it comes to selling your old and unwanted stuff, OLX is without any doubt your savior in Lebanon. Here’s how to get the most out of their services.
dubizzle is now OLX, and it’s now easier for us Lebanese to sell our old unwanted stuff instead of throwing them away (and contributing to the mountains of garbage already piled up around the country).
OLX recently launched a new app, (that we definitely recommend you download) which really makes it simple to sell and buy whatever you need at amazing prices.
However, selling over the Internet isn’t a walk in the park. There are a few things you need to keep in mind!
1- Be honest, but don’t expect honesty
Do take a picture of what you want to sell, instead of using a fake picture. But don’t buy anything before you examine it and verify its authenticity (because the picture could be fake as well).
Same applies for the description of what you are trying to sell, give clear details and be honest about the age of your stuff. But make sure you double check what you are buying.
OLX usually do their best to track down and delete any user selling fake stuff.
2- Be organized
Put your item in the correct category to make it easier for potential buyers to find it.
3- Put a fair price
Put yourself in the buyer’s shoes. You know that you will not attempt to make an offer on items that are priced unreasonably high. Check the average rate and put up a price that will be acceptable both for you and your buyer.
4- Security
Do not share any financial information (except the ones required for payment) or IDs with the buyer. Make sure you take the full payment at the time of the delivery. And watch out for fake currencies!
5- Meet your buyer
Make sure you meet your buyer at a safe location (not in the middle of nowhere). It is important for you to know the owner of your old stuff, especially if you need to give them more details about what you are selling.
