Elie Saab’s new Fall/Winter 2012 collection

Lebanese designer Elie Saab enchanted the fashion world with his new fall/winter 2012-2013 collection, inspired by Constantinople and the Ottoman era.

“As if lifted from a palace along the banks of the Bosporus, Ottoman motifs subtly infuse the collection with imperial splendour,” read the collection notes, in a description designed to encourage the well-heeled to open their wallets.

Elie Saab, one of Hollywood’s favorite designers, used a lot of embroidered tulle and lace in his new collection of amazing dresses.

The ravishing American top model, Karlie Kloss, opened the show with a black tulle caftan dripping with lace, sequin and pearl embroidery guaranteed to ensure a dramatic entrance on either side of the Bosporus.

The Lebanese designer did not stick to black with his new exotic collection, he also opted for hues of champagne, taupe, rose, sky blue and jade for most of the collection, with a special emphasis on shimmering gold.

“I didn’t like to use the colors of winter,” said Saab after the show.
