INFINITI unveils the Q50 and the QX30

INFINITI unveiled two new vehicles that will premiere at the Dubai International Motor Show.

With the INFINITI Q50 and the all-new INFINITI QX30, the premium brand continues its product expansion story here in the region with the introduction of the new version of the executive sedan and the all-new premium active crossover.

“At INFINITI we seek to empower our customers on their journey and experience with us through our product offering as well as our forward looking technologies. The introductions of the Q50 as well as the all-new QX30 are two vehicles that will continue deliver on this promise to our customers,” said Juergen Schmitz, Managing Director, INFINITI Middle East.

2018 INFINITI Q50

The enhanced sports sedan retains its sleek proportions and athletic stance, while establishing greater visual differentiation between model versions, including the performance-inspired ‘Red Sport 400’. Through the Red Sport 400 grade, INFINITI’s designers have brought the model in line with its ‘designed to perform’ ethos.

Changes to the interior blend artistry with innovation, with stitching and the use of authentic materials further elevating the level of craftsmanship inside the Q50. The INFINITI InTouch Services bring the future of in-car connectivity to the interior, while the inclusion of the brand’s ‘spinal support’ seats ensures a comfortable space in which to spend time.

Innovative technologies empower and support the driver, while giving a glimpse into the automotive future. The new Q50 is the first INFINITI vehicle to use INFINITI’s Driver Assist Technologies upon which all future INFINITI autonomous drive support technologies will be based.

Coinciding with the refreshed look of the new Q50 is the introduction of a new grade structure – Luxe, Sport, Blue Sport and Red Sport 400 – which sees differentiation in the look of the range-topping sports grades. This has allowed INFINITI designers the opportunity to tailor different designs according to the attributes and character of the models within the range. The ‘Sport’ grade adds performance-focused exterior design, while further enhancements and the most powerful engine appear exclusively in the ‘Red Sport 400’ grade.

The Q50 delivers an empowering and rewarding drive thanks to innovative powertrains, including the award-winning 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine from the new and exclusive ‘VR’ powertrain family in two states of tune; a range topping 400HP or 300HP. These engines were also recently named on the prestigious 2017 Ward’s ‘10 Best Engines’ list. As an entry to the segment INFINITI’s 2.0 Litre Turbo Direct Injection engine is also available, delivering 208HP at 5,500 rpm.

All-new INFINITI QX30

Created for a new generation of premium buyers who appreciate category-defying design inside and out, the QX30 boasts a purposeful appearance that makes a bold visual statement – and joins the Q30 as part of INFINITI’s premium compact model line-up.

Remaining true to the powerful and elegant design cues that guided the original QX30 concept, the car’s highly sculpted exterior, unique crossover stance and asymmetric cabin design exemplify INFINITI’s design-led approach to product development.

The QX30 will hold a unique position in the segment, bridging the gap between premium compact rivals and larger crossover models. Its crossover-style versatility extends from unique design appeal and a wide range of comfort, convenience, safety and dynamic features, including intelligent all-wheel drive. Its elevated ride height over the Q30 and high-stability drivetrain will give confidence to drivers.

The QX30 comes equipped with an intelligent all-wheel drive system. The drivetrain is able to send up to 50% of the engine’s power and torque to the rear axle to maintain traction on slippery surfaces and in inclement weather, enhancing a feeling of control and confidence when driving. For example, if a wheel slip is detected by sensors, braking is applied to the slipping wheel, while torque is sent to the gripping wheel for additional stability. Combined with the elevated ground clearance, the QX30’s drivetrain is engineered to deal with all conditions.

The elevated dimensions make for a confident and relaxing drive, while ascribing to the car’s versatile character. An overall height of 1,530mm (with standard roof rails) helps improve forward visibility over its rivals, aided by a slim A-pillar design, while the elevated ride allows for a higher hip point (1,324mm), improving ease of ingress and egress.

The INFINITI QX30 will be available with the 2.0L Turbo variants in an AWD configuration. The 2.0L Turbo engine delivers 208hp and 350Nm torque.
