I’ll spare you the story behind Jackie Chamoun’s photoshoot, because most of you already read it. And it is not what is important right now.
Jackie apologized today on her Facebook page, this is what she said.
Jackie, you shouldn’t have apologized.
I can go on and on about how this is your life and your body and you are free to do whatever you want, but the issue is beyond all that.
We should be the ones apologizing for making a big fuss out of something that is insignificant compared to what you are doing today at the Winter Olympics. You are representing Lebanon, but unfortunately Lebanon today does not deserve this honor, and here’s why.
Jackie, you probably know by now that you made the headlines tonight. But did you know that nobody spoke today about the corrupt public employee that stole more than 30 millions dollars of tax money from the Lebanese people?
Jackie, you shouldn’t have apologized.
Because the state that you are representing, has been doing all that is in its power over the past five years to destroy every single accomplishment in sports that the young generations have made.
You do know what I am talking about Jackie. The suspension of Lebanese Basket-Ball by the FIBA because of corruption and politicization of the game. The national football team’s scandal and its forfeit from the world cup qualifiers. The lack of support to local athletes participating in international competitions… need I say more?
Jackie, you didn’t have to apologize. Because every single year there are more and more young Lebanese out there who have the back of talented and free people like you.
Shame on a country that destroys its own new generations.
