Charbel El-Khoury: “I’m inspired by the wild and daring trends in fashion”

Talented Lebanese designer Charbel el-Khoury (Charbel Zoé Couture) talks to BelleBeirut about his inspiration, his recent award from the U.S and his plans for the future.

“I was influenced by my grandmother’s style and fashion choice at a very young age”, says Charbel el-Khoury in an interview with BelleBeirut. “My passion for fashion helped me emulate her style and implement her unique touch on the dresses I used to design for dolls”.

El-Khoury loves standing out and breaking away from traditional fashion trends. This is what makes his style so seductive and eye-catching. “I’m inspired by the wild and daring trends in fashion, going against the established norms and attitudes in the industry and offering something new to the women who wear my dresses”.

In 2013, Charbel el-Khoury shot to stardom after winning the Emerging Women’s Wear Designer prize at the Miami Fashion Week.

“It was an honor to represent my country Lebanon, and my region the Middle East. I was among three designers who reached the finals, which was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t believe it when they chose my design, and I won the first prize”, says el-Khoury. “I was elated”, he added.

Charbel el-Khoury launched his own brand “Charbel Zoé Couture” after working closely with several international fashion houses, including Givenchy, Ungaro, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.

“My plans for the immediate future are first and foremost to represent my country and the amazing designers we have in Lebanon and the Arab world in international fashion weeks and events”, says El-Khoury who presented a breathtaking collection at Dubaï’s Fashion Forward event.
