Wish you could banish hangovers for good? Well, next month, you can come one step closer.
The FDA just approved a new anti-hangover drug called Blowfish, scheduled to be on shelves by January. It comes in tablets you dissolve into water for quicker absorption, and is packed with 1,000 milligrams of aspirin, 120 milligrams of caffeine and a stomach-soothing agent. These scientists seem to have thought of everything.
With all the holiday parties going on right now, it’s too bad this drug won’t be available sooner. How sweet would it be to be able to go out, enjoy a few cocktails, and make it through work the next day without totally dragging ass?
Of course, it remains to be seen if this “cure-all” actually works, and we’re looking forward to testing it out ourselves. But while it sounds pretty awesome in theory, we’re not so sure this is a great idea in the long run, especially for repeat offenders. The occasional hangover is understandable, but binge drinking is never a good idea—and this kind of “quick fix” could give people permission to throw back a few too many on a regular basis since they think they won’t have to face the repercussions the next day. That could get dangerous.
