“A movie about the elderly, what a depressing two hours this is going to be”. Those are the thought that wandered around my head going into the movie theater. I was happily proven wrong.

The movie is about 7 elderly people who come from different backgrounds and live very different lives. What will bring them together is a trip to India, and their stay at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The hotel, the country, and what they will find there isn’t at all what they expected, but sometimes the unexpected can do wonders.
First of all, the cast is terrific. All of the 7 main characters are portrayed by very gifted, experienced actors, who despite their age deliver performances that would make the new generation of prima donnas sit down and take notes. Their real achievement is making us care, and we sympathize, even relate to those characters. Judi Dench was my personal favorite. Dev Patel ( from slumdog millionaire) is a charming addition to this movie, his energy makes him a very lovable character.
Second of all, the most amazing thing about this movie is that it makes you want to jump on the next plane to India, and although the country is an attack on the senses, it also has a real touch of humanity, and we could learn a great deal from it’s humble inhabitants. And this is what the movie shows, and this is what some of the characters come to discover.
I loved it, and if you’re looking for a pleasant adventure with some very warm characters, this is the movie for you.
