OLX Lebanon has recently concluded its first celebrity campaign on social media: Stars on OLX, featuring four Lebanese celebrities covering four categories on OLX platform, Fadi el Khatib (Sporting Goods), Hilda Khalifeh (Fashion & Beauty), Nada Abou Farhat (Hobbies, Music, and Art), and Mario Bassil (Electronics & Home Appliances).
Bringing celebrities on board is a testament that OLX values local Lebanese talents and is always searching and investing on creative ways to advance the brand and encourage people to use it. By partnering and engaging with local personalities who are actual users of the platform, they wanted to reflect the young, fun spirit of OLX, and at the same time, represent the Lebanese users and their needs.
OLX’s campaign jointly with the Lebanese celebrities confirmed the ease of use of the platform and its accessibility. OLX Lebanon Strategy Manager, Maria Nehme celebrated the outcome of the campaign that generated over 2 million views on social media platforms and said: “While our platform is open to people of all ages and from different walks of life it maintains its credibility and remains a secure platform to exchange goods for free and at zero commission. Celebrity or not you can buy, sell, and also win with OLX.”
The celebrities posted a personal item to sell on OLX without revealing their identity. As the deal was sealed and the buyers went to collect their items, they were surprised to meet the celebrity and receive the item for free.
The echoes of the campaign were very positive for both the “buyers” and the celebrities. On one hand, the surprised “buyers” were so happy to meet the stars in person and win a treadmill, backstage mirror, handbag, or telescope. On the other hand, the celebrities felt the excitement of preparing the surprise behind-the-scenes and were happy to share a personal item with the selected winner.
